Arts Deloraine has closed 2025 on a high, marking a significant year of growth, collaboration and community achievement.
At the centre of this success is the opening of the Deloraine Pocket Park, the organisation’s flagship project in central Deloraine. The transformation of this empty block into a vibrant cultural hub was made possible through major private benefactors significant support from a Bendigo Bank Community Grant, volunteers, community donors, strong teamwork with local service clubs, and the ongoing partnership with Meander Valley Council.
Letter to the Editor
Officially opened on 4 October 2025, Pocket Park has already transformed Deloraine into an active creative precinct. During the Tasmanian Craft Fair (October 31-November 2), the venue hosted three days of continuous entertainment, showcasing local musicians, writers, performers and emerging talent. Since then, it has welcomed Deloraine Big Band, Deloraine Development Band, youth performers, community groups, and a growing audience eager for free and accessible arts programming.
Community feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with locals and visitors alike praising the space for its warmth, energy and sense of connection. Meander Valley Council’s Pocket Park Activation Grant will support a full program of events in 2026, including International Women’s Day, Volunteer Week, Youth Week, live concerts, workshops and new arts initiatives. Booking the Pocket Park for an event can be done through their website at www.artsdeloraine.com.au.

Arts Deloraine’s commitment to supporting artists remains central to its mission. The popular Artist Talks Series, held on the third Sunday of each month, continues to grow in attendance and will expand with a refreshed program from February. Artists interested in hosting a session, workshop, or studio visit are encouraged to contact Arts Deloraine.
Collaboration remains fundamental to Arts Deloraine’s approach. Sister organisations such as Deloraine Big Band, Deloraine Dramatic Society, and Deloraine Community House contribute immensely to the region’s cultural and social vitality. The group also acknowledges the invaluable support of the local Lions and Rotary Clubs, whose generosity and partnership underpin many of Arts Deloraine’s initiatives.
With our newly registered Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, Arts Deloraine looks forward to 2026 and another year supporting the arts in the Meander Valley.
