What a huge success we had with International Women’s Day at the Pocket Park! There was so much interest from talented women in the Deloraine area that we had to extend the event by an hour, and could have easily gone longer.

We had a huge line up of amazing women from all around the area: poets, authors, musicians and storytellers took to the stage to share their skills and entertain us all. Huge thank you to Anya Deckers for MC-ing for us, and councillor Anne-Marie Loader for the opening address, and to all our performers on the day.

Letter to the Editor

Thank you so much to all those who came along to show their support for our incredible performers, and join in the fun, and an especially huge thank you to those helping out behind the scenes: the Arts Deloraine committee and other volunteers who helped the day run so smoothly.

In case you missed it: things have been busy at the Pocket Park. We had the Love is Love celebration on Valentine’s Day – celebrating love in all it’s forms, followed immediately by an incredible selection of music to entertain passersby who attended the Deloraine Car Show, and at the end of the month Body and Soul Gym brought their Qigong and Stretch to the Park.

Don’t forget the Park is a space for the community – come along and busk or use the space as an outdoor gallery for a day. As an encouragement for buskers we are currently offering a $20 voucher for a limited time – so come and play some music or put on a performance to entertain us all! You can book the space on our website or reach out on Facebook.

Things will continue to be busy in April!

On 11th April we have a fundraiser for Arts Deloraine. Bruce Penn, Rob van der Elst, Eddie Tuleja and Kathleen Green are joining forces to bring us Fourthought, a night of poetry and music. 2-4pm at the Little Theatre. Check out our Facebook page for more details!

Also keep an eye out for Youth Week, which runs from the 16th – 23rd. There’ll be a Youth Arts Showcase at the Pocket Park on the 22nd, so come along and see what the Youth of the Meander Valley are up to!
