As the major sponsor of the upcoming JG Pest Control Pink Ball, we are proud to be supporting the Tasmania Cancer Council. This special event will be held on Friday 18 October and is being organised by local Penny Weeds operator, Penny Gardner. Yes, her surname fits perfectly.

The evening will feature live music from Tasmania’s own Gypsy Rose, with supper provided and bar facilities available through the footy club. For tickets or enquiries, phone Penny on 0437 757 165. This is also Penny’s business number for any gardening needs.

Letter to the Editor

The Pink Ball holds extra significance for us as it coincides with our small business’s 20th year in operation. Over the years, JG Pest Control has proudly supported many community events and promotions, and this one has a particular focus on women in our customer base, some of our most loyal and valued supporters.

We have a long history of backing local sporting clubs and community organisations, including the Deloraine Golf Club, Deloraine Football Club, Deloraine Show Society, and the Deloraine Apex Club. We also regularly supply gift vouchers to groups such as the Westbury Show Society, Westbury Primary School, and the Toddle Inn, around 10 to 12 vouchers each year.

JG Pest Control is a locally owned, family-run business servicing the Meander Valley and the wider Northern Midlands region for nearly two decades. Owner and operator John “Guv” Gardner founded the business while still working shift work, and now devotes his full time to running it. Guv has held a full pest technician and operator’s licence for 23 years.

Also fully licensed is Jack Gardner, who has worked in the business for around 16 years. Jack specialises in ant and European wasp control, having carried out extensive research into ant behaviour. He also handles wasp nest eradication, removing an average of 60 to 70 nests per year.

Adam Poke assists across all areas, including rodent control and servicing bait stations for around 80 year-round customers. Daughter Abbie manages the accounts, compliance, licensing, marketing, payroll, and other day-to-day administration to keep the business running smoothly.

Operating two vehicles, we service a wide area from Burnie to Bridport, St Helens to Binalong Bay, Port Sorell to Sheffield, Great Lake to Cressy, and of course Deloraine, Westbury, and Launceston. We pride ourselves on competitive rates and guarantee to see every job through to the customer’s satisfaction.

Over the years we have dealt with spiders, silverfish, earwigs, fleas, flies, mice, rats, wasps, and all manner of pests that can invade your home. We hold all required licences and registrations, carry full insurance, and offer 30-day accounts for approved customers, with bank transfer and mobile EFTPOS options available.

For enquiries, call 0418 697 061, email jgpest@bigpond.com, or visit our website. Our thanks to all our current and future customers and we look forward to helping you keep your home and business pest-free.
