Thanks to a $5,000 Meander Valley Council grant, the Deloraine Table Tennis League is donating a quality table tennis table, bats, balls and net to six community halls across the region, including Rosevale, Carrick, Weegena, Dairy Plains, Caveside and Mole Creek.
Logistics company Highlands Haulage transports the tables from Melbourne at no cost, with the tables delivered during April. Dairy Plains Hall president Amy Atkins says the table is already seeing plenty of action. “We hosted an event, and our table tennis table had a good workout. It’s great to get the kids active, and the adults aren’t holding back either,” she says.

Deloraine Table Tennis League is hoping the supply of these tables might encourage community halls to enter teams in their annual winter Community Challenge. The competition will run for three Wednesdays from June 24th – July 8th from 6.30-8.30pm. The League is offering each community hall coaching should they want it.
