This year Deloraine Table Tennis League turns 30 years old. More members than ever, dedicated volunteers, bigger smiles, and a mess of joyful young players growing their game (and growing up) together. Table tennis (and boccia) in the Meander Valley is in good shape.
This year we will again be hosting the Tasmanian Primary Schools Table Tennis Championships. Last year, over 60 girls and boys from 17 primary schools competed at the inaugural championships, including Mole Creek, Our Lady of Mercy, Deloraine, Westbury, and Giant Steps. Deloraine players made up 5 of the 8 grand finalists – and took out two of the three titles. And our local primary schools now have a world-class table tennis table to practice on, thanks to a Bendigo Bank grant.

Keep an eye out for this year’s Winter Community Challenge. Last year, the team from Weegena Community Hall got the chocolates over Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm Café, Josh Streets Automotives, Meander Valley Council, Greymont, and Deloraine Fire Brigade.
To encourage more community halls to get involved, we have applied for a grant (with support from Highlands Haulage) to provide six Meander Valley community halls with a top table tennis table and all necessary equipment. Fingers crossed.
