It has been an eventful and successful start to the year! One of the Senior Leadership Board (SLB)  missions this year is to build on connection and house spirit. To achieve this, our peer support leaders have run relationship building activities with our year 7’s to welcome them to High School. We have run several events including Harmony Week which involved lots of orange – cupcakes, ribbon and an art competition.

At lunch times we have run weekly activities including pickleball, soccer, Just Dance, board games and opening the art room. Students have gained house points by attending these activities. For Easter we held a scavenger hunt, sold more cupcakes, had a ‘guess the easter egg in the jar’ competition and had a visit from the Easter Bunny during the lunch time event. It was great to hear our year 7’s performing music for the first time.

Students have enjoyed utilising our new and improved outdoor spaces including additional artificial turfed areas, outdoor beanbags, volleyball court, table tennis tables and the Gaga pit. Outdoor umbrellas are being installed soon.

Students have had many opportunities throughout the term including a TIS visit, work placements, the annual swimming carnival and Inter High (2nd place), exploration of the architecture space at UTAS, Digi tech excursion and many more. This week we had our first career and life planning lesson where year 7’s started looking at their interests and career pathways, year 8’s started creating resumes, and year 9 and 10 students started looking at transition pathways and ASbA’s.

The Senior Leadership Board is working hard to plan for our annual trivia night (October 28th) and World Wellbeing Week along with continuing their mission to create connections. We look forward to what Term 2 brings – the annual cross country, winter sport and many more opportunities.
